Volunteer Duties
- Overall support of children in the program
- Therapy Program: Hands-on experience assisting therapists with strategies, interventions and report writing
- Enrichment Program: Assist the lead teacher with supervision of therapy children in structured play activities after the official therapy day. These activities could include structured play, music and movement, story time, arts and crafts, and sensory opportunities.
- Sibling Program: Assist the Sibling Coordinator with supervision of siblings of the therapy child throughout scheduled activities. These activities could include Arts and Crafts, Movies, Swimming, Miniature Golf, Wall/Rock Climbing, Hiking, Zoo, etc.
Who We Need
We welcome college students majoring in one of the therapy/special/regular education disciplines.
High School students are welcome to apply for the Sibling Program.
Bilingual volunteers are especially encouraged to apply.
Individuals who have a sibling with developmental disability are also encouraged to apply.
Work Commitment
We need volunteers to work one or multiple weeks. The time of day is dependent upon which program you work:
- Therapy: mornings into early afternoons
- Enrichment: afternoons
- Sibling: mornings and afternoons
Training & Compensation
A half-day, mandatory training is provided a few weeks prior to assigned work week.
A full-day mandatory orientation and planning session is held the Sunday prior to the therapy week.
College credit, Practicum, Observation hours and high school volunteer hours may be available.
